Our Mission

Polit Case Competition wishes to engage more economics students in case-solving and bridge the gap between economic theory and real business challenges. Through our annual case competitions; PCC RISE and PCC IMPACT, as well as workshops held in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group, we seek to offer students inspiring experiences and an opportunity to develop their case-solving skills.

Our Vision

Our vision is to pave the way in economic case competitions, motivating economics students of all semesters to solve cases. This will be achieved by hosting events that link students with real-world business challenges, bridging the gap between economic theory and practice. We aim to create anticipated annual events that empower economics students from Danish universities and a platform to connect future employees and employers.

The History of Polit Case Competition

Polit Case Competition was established in 2014 by economics students at the University of Copenhagen; Christoffer Weissert, Albert Nygård and Frederik Wagner. At this time, there were no case competitions addressing the interests and focus of economics students interested in case solving - at least none that students organized. Furthermore, during their studies, questions often arose on what it implies to work within the economics field – whether in public administration or in the private sector. Their aim was, therefore to create an event where students could get a hands-on experience on how to put economic theory to practice. From the very beginning, Polit Case Competition, therefore, had the purpose to bridge that gap between students and business and expose students to some of the interesting challenges companies face.

Since the first competition was launched Polit Case Competition has changed and grown. Throughout the years the number of events has changed. 10 years after its establishment Polit Case Competition has returned to its roots and will be hosting one case competition a year, rather than the two annual case competitions, PCC RISE and PCC IMPACT like it has in the past. However, the workshops throughout the year will remain. We strive to bridge the gap between economic theory and real-life business challenges by engaging students of economics in case-solving and creating cases based on real-life business, organizational or political problems. Through our events, we challenge students to apply their knowledge in a practical and case-based manner whilst solving problems rooted in economic theory and empirics. Furthermore, our events offer a great opportunity for networking with various companies, including leading Danish organizations and a top international consulting firm. To excel in the cases, the participating teams must apply economic theory and tools as well as excellent presentational skills.

Polit Case Competition operates from the economics department of the University of Copenhagen and has done so since 2014, engaging the most talented students in case solving.
